US President Donald Trump expressed support for the idea of a face-to-face meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and russia, commenting on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s open letter to the kremlin leader. He made this statement while speaking with reporters at the White House.
“I think it would be great if they met,” Trump said.
The US President also noted that without U. support, Ukraine would not be able to continue its defense.
"Without our military and our equipment, Ukraine wouldn't be alive to fight today. I mean, just in terms of the question. We gave them hundreds of billions of dollars worth of equipment and the best equipment. And we make the best equipment anywhere in the world. But they wouldn't have lasted one or two days," he said.
In addition, Trump added that he expects both sides to make compromises to resolve the conflict.
"I have proposed these concessions, and, you know, we have put a lot of effort into this... I want each side to make certain concessions, and I think they will," the US President concluded.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy wrote an open letter to Putin regarding ending the war.
