The Defense Forces of Ukraine have denied statements about the alleged threat of a semi-encirclement of Sumy by the troops of the aggressor country, the russian federation. The day before, information began to spread on the network that the occupiers had intensified assault operations in the border zone.
This was stated by the spokesman for the Joint Forces Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Viktor Trehubov, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
The army of the occupiers is indeed making attempts to advance in the Sumy Region, but at the moment they have only slightly penetrated deep into the territory of Ukraine. In addition, a small number of enemy troops are in the immediate vicinity of the state border.
"Any stories about the possibility of reaching Sumy from the east are not true," Trehubov said.
Earlier on Monday, April 20, TSN correspondent Yulia Kiriyenko wrote in her Telegram channel that there are currently four occupiers' encirclements in the Sumy Region. The enemy is attacking from the north and east, which in the future may create a threat of a semi-encirclement of Sumy.
According to her, the day before, information appeared that active assault actions of the russians had begun immediately against two brigades of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the region.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, yesterday, April 19, the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in the Sumy Region, the russians tried to penetrate the rear of the Ukrainian military through a gas pipeline. The enemy's actions were detected and stopped in time, the russians lost 35 people killed.
