Prices for greenhouse cucumbers fallen sharply in Ukraine

Last week, a sharp decline in prices for greenhouse cucumbers was recorded on the domestic market of Ukraine.

This is stated in a report by the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The report states that the increase in the volume of samples in Ukrainian greenhouse plants against the background of steadily restrained demand is the main factor in the negative price dynamics in this segment.

Thus, large greenhouse farms report significant product residues in warehouses, as the average weekly volume of samples in greenhouses continues to grow and in order to avoid the accumulation of unsold volumes of vegetables, producers are forced to reduce selling prices.

Currently, at the end of last week, greenhouse plants shipped cucumbers at prices no higher than UAH 90-145 per kilogram, which is on average 21% cheaper than a week earlier.

In addition, domestic cucumbers are significantly competing with imported products from Poland.

Many importers currently have significant stocks of Polish cucumbers, formed the week before last, which is why they were forced to reduce prices to UAH 70 per kilogram.

It is noted that despite the rapid decline in prices, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are currently sold on average 15% more expensive than in the corresponding period last year.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, since the beginning of last week, Ukrainian farmers have begun to gradually increase prices for last year's white cabbage.
