The russian port of Ust-Luga resumed crude oil shipments on April 4: the Aframax Jewel tanker began loading.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing data on vessel movements.

According to the agency, the work of one of russia's key export ports was effectively stopped in late March due to attacks by Ukrainian drones on energy facilities along the Baltic coast.

During this period, the volume of oil transportation through the ports decreased to about a third of the previous week's level, which, according to Bloomberg, reduced russia's revenues by more than USD 1 billion.

The publication also notes that tankers with russian oil are increasingly changing routes after the UK announced its intention to intercept "shadow" russian ships. Because of this, the ships bypass the North Sea and the English Channel through the north of Scotland, which extends their journey by about two days.

What is known about the strikes on Ust-Luga

In March 2026, Ukrainian drones attacked the oil terminal in Ust-Luga at least five times, as well as the port of Primorsk on the other side of the Gulf of Finland - key routes for russian oil exports through the Baltic Sea.

Ust-Luga can export up to 700,000 barrels of oil per day, and Primorsk - about 1 million barrels of oil and 300,000 barrels of diesel fuel daily.

Ukraine's strikes on the ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk led to the shutdown of about 40% of russia's oil export capacity by sea.

According to Reuters, almost half of the tanks in the russian port of Primorsk on the Baltic Sea were disabled as a result of a series of attacks by Ukraine using drones in late March of this year.
