On the morning of April 3, russia launched a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, sending strategic aircraft into the skies and launching a record number of kamikaze drones. Yurii Ihnat, a spokesman for the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has reported this during a telethon.
The military recorded the takeoff of Tu-95 and Tu-160MS bombers.
"There is information that Tu-95 and 160MS strategic bombers were taken into the sky, and if there are launches, missiles appear, we will definitely report it," Ihnat said.
According to him, the enemy is using classic tactics of striking from the far frontiers, in particular from the Caspian Sea and the Volgograd Oblast. He emphasized that the threat is real for the whole country, but the population has time to react.
"As is usually the case, it takes several hours to get even to the center of our country, so there is time to react accordingly - I mean, the population should understand that there is a danger from the Shaheds, and from missiles, as well as a ballistic threat," the spokesman added.
In addition to aviation, a record number of drones are currently attacking the territory of Ukraine. While at 7:00 a.m. about 240 units were spotted, now there are more than 400 of them. A large group of UAVs is moving from the Sumy Region to the south, and drones have also been spotted over the Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy Regions. At the same time, the frontline regions, in particular, the Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv Regions, have already come under ballistic missile fire.
"Today, the enemy launched 10 ballistic missiles at the frontline regions, there are hits. Unfortunately, we do not provide information yet, because the attack continues, there are quite a lot of drones in the sky in the central part of our country," explained Ihnat.
He emphasized that the current situation repeats the scenarios of massive attacks in late March and April, when russian drones attacked Ukrainian cities throughout the day. The Air Forces continue to track the movement of targets and urges citizens to take cover.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Air Forces told about the attack of atypical russian drones on Kyiv. How they were different.
