10 years of defense partnership ahead: Ukraine and Qatar sign specialized agreement - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine and Qatar had agreed on a mutually beneficial partnership in the defense sector for at least 10 years.

It was reported by the Ukrainian President's Telegram channel on his Twitter account.

Zelenskyy informed that he had met in Doha with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The meeting was also attended by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

According to the President, the parties discussed the protection of life in both countries and signed an agreement on projects in the defense industry.

"We discussed how to ensure more protection of life in our countries and agreed on a mutually beneficial partnership in the defense sector for at least 10 years. At the end of the meeting, the Chiefs of our General Staffs signed a corresponding agreement that provides for joint projects in the defense industry, the creation of co-productions and technological partnerships between companies," the Head of State said.

He also added that he had informed about the security situation in Ukraine, russia's constant attacks and moscow's close cooperation with the Iranian regime.

"It is important for us to strengthen air defense, and we count on appropriate support from our partners," Zelenskyy summarized.

Later, after Zelenskyy's post, NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov also made a post. He confirmed that a deal had been struck and provided some details.

According to him, the agreement forms a framework for long-term cooperation in the security sphere, in particular in countering modern air threats and strengthening defense capabilities.

"The document also provides for the development of joint projects, technological cooperation and attraction of investments in security solutions," the NSDC Secretary said.
