The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained 8 men who were selling weapons illegally exported from the frontline areas and combat zones. It was reported by the SSU press service.
The seized items include russian Kalashnikov rifles, Dzhmil rocket-propelled infantry flamethrowers, Val silent firing assault rifles, anti-tank grenade launchers, and almost 20,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
Who was detained?
A service station owner and two of his accomplices were detained in Kyiv region who tried to clandestinely sell weapons smuggled from the frontline areas of the east of Ukraine.
"It was established that the dealers kept weapons in caches arranged in a garage and a guest house on the territory of private households. Law enforcers detained the suspects red-handed while selling a combat arsenal, including rocket-propelled grenades, an under-barrel grenade launcher, AK series assault rifles and ammunition," the statement said.
Anti-tank guided missile, 192-mm grenade launchers in boxes, a rocket-propelled flamethrower, 9 small arms and more than 11,500 rounds of ammunition of various calibers were additionally seized during the search of the caches at the detainees' residences.
In the Donetsk Region, two mobilized persons were exposed who were taking "trophy" weapons from the frontline for sale.
Both suspects were detained in the Kramatorsk District during an attempt to sell an RPG-22 anti-tank grenade launcher and five russian AK-47s.
Two repeat offenders were exposed in the Dnipropetrovsk Region - an employee of a local metal depot and his friend, who had previously served sentences for illegal arms sales. They organized an underground workshop in a garage on the territory of a private house, where they restored the combat properties of small arms for sale.
A resident of Kyiv was detained in the Khmelnytskyi Region, who was exposed on the sale of weapons. He also prepared for sale more than 1.6 kg of plastid, 11 combat grenades, more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition, a grenade launcher and smoke bombs.

The detainees were served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). They face up to 7 years in prison.
