In Kryvyi Rih, a 14-year-old child was left alone and ended up in a children's institution due to his father's mobilization. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has reported this on his Telegram channel.

"The information that caused justified indignation was spread on the network: in Kryvyi Rih, a 14-year-old boy was placed in a children's institution after his father went to a recruitment and social support center to update his data and stopped contacting him," Lubinets said.

What was found out?

The 14-year-old boy was temporarily placed in the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children in Kryvyi Rih. His father, who has been raising his son on his own since 2022 (his mother is abroad), was mobilized after a visit to the territorial recruitment and social support center.

"However, the fact of sole parenting was not legally formalized. Back in 2023, the Service for Children's Affairs repeatedly recommended that the father submit and execute the necessary documents, but he did not do so. This is what led to the current situation," the ombudsman emphasized.

According to him, this case is not an isolated one.

"If a child is actually raised by one of the parents, it must be legally formalized. Otherwise, the state does not see the real picture and cannot fully protect either the child or the adult. In wartime, this can have serious consequences... Get your documents in order! The formalized status of a single father or mother, the child's place of residence, a court decision on alimony or parental rights is not a formality, but a real mechanism for protecting the child," Lubinets added.

We will remind, earlier Lubinets said that the number of complaints against territorial recruitment and social support centers' actions increased 333 times.
