Donald Trump's family company has filed three trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office to reserve the name of the incumbent President for use in airport names.
This is reported by Forbes and AP.
These are the brands "Donald J. Trump International Airport", "President Donald J. Trump International Airport" and the abbreviation "DJT".
Earlier, the Florida House of Representatives approved a bill to rename Palm Beach County International Airport in honor of Trump. The project may require more than USD 5 million to implement.
Lawyers note that the trademark with the name Donald Trump can be monetized. At the same time, the Trump company stated that the goal is only to protect against unfair use of the name, and not to make a profit.
"To be clear, the President and his family will not receive any royalties, licensing fees or financial rewards from the proposed renaming of the [Palm Beach] airport," said Kimberly Benza, director of executive operations and communications for the Trump Organization.
According to the AP, the company is also seeking exclusive rights to use the Trump name on "dozens" of related airport products and services, from buses and umbrellas to travel bags and flight suits.
Recall that the family of US President Donald Trump is expanding its presence in the defense industry, investing in the production of drones, which could potentially bring profits from government orders.
