Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said that it is necessary to build an anti-drone dome over Ukraine that will destroy the threat on approach. This was stated in a message from Fedorov's Telegram account on Monday, January 19.
A deputy commander of the Ukrainian Air Force has been appointed to strengthen the defense of the sky. Fedorov noted that one of the most effective commanders, Pavlo Yelizarov (Lazar), has become him, who will be responsible for the development of small-scale air defense.
"Pavlo Yelizarov (Lazar) is the new deputy commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He will be responsible for the development of small air defense and the direction of intercepting drones. Our task is to build an anti-drone dome over Ukraine. A system that does not react after the fact, but destroys the threat during its approach. This requires people who have already proven their effectiveness in modern warfare. Lazar is one of them," Fedorov emphasized.

According to him, russia wants to destroy civilian infrastructure and plunge Ukraine into a blackout, for which it is increasing the number of attacks. Ukraine's task will be to build a system that works not in a single spot, but at the level of the entire country, Fedorov emphasized. On the instructions of the President, the Ministry of Defense is changing its approach to protecting the sky, but the transformation of such a system does not happen in a few days, the Minister of Defense noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the aggressor country of russia had prepared for a new massive shelling of Ukraine.
