Heating pipes rupturing in almost all districts of Kyiv due to frost - Kyiv City Military Administration

Numerous cases of rupture of heating pipes due to freezing have been recorded in residential buildings in the capital. This was reported by the spokeswoman for the Kyiv City Military Administration, Kateryna Pop, during the broadcast of the national telethon.

She noted that damage to networks is observed in almost every district of the city and the critical situation arose due to technical miscalculations during emergency shutdowns.

"Such a phenomenon is present in almost every district. It is a technical process, since during the emergency of the heat supply network, people did not carry out technical actions to drain the systems, which were necessary to prevent freezing when subzero temperatures occur," Kateryna Pop explained.

Currently, all cases of defrosting of systems are under the control of district state administrations. Building managers promptly transmit information about the damage, after which specialists determine the timing of repair work and assess the technical capabilities for restoring heat supply in each specific case.

The Kyiv City Military Administration spokeswoman also assured that the authorities will look for alternative options for helping Kyiv residents if the restoration of networks takes a long time.

"If the repair times are delayed, they will look for other solutions for residents of such buildings," she said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine's power system has found itself in extremely difficult conditions due to intensive russian shelling and the most severe winter in the last 20 years. In connection with the emergency situation in the energy sector, the government is introducing a set of emergency measures to stabilize the situation and protect the population.

The day before, the director general of the Yasno energy company Serhii Kovalenko urged Kyiv residents not to wait for an improvement in the electricity situation and to hope only for the establishment of warm weather.
