On the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ministry of Energy has set up and held the first meeting of the special headquarters to eliminate the consequences of russian shelling of the capital's energy infrastructure. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has announced this.
According to the head of government, the headquarters will work 24/7 to ensure the maximum speed of restoration work. The main goal is to stabilize heat and electricity supply in the Kyiv Region.
"Our task is to respond promptly and effectively to the current challenges. I have given the task to ensure the continuous operation of the headquarters in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
During the meeting, the participants agreed on comprehensive measures to restore the power system. In particular, they discussed the introduction of mechanisms for accelerated repair of damaged facilities and the formation of necessary equipment reserves. In addition, special attention is paid to the active involvement of international assistance and the introduction of new solutions to strengthen the protection of energy infrastructure from future attacks.
At present, all efforts of the relevant services are focused on minimizing inconveniences for the residents of the capital and the region and ensuring the stable operation of critical infrastructure.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, amid the strikes by the aggressor country russia and deteriorating weather conditions an emergency situation will be introduced in the energy sector of Ukraine.
