Czech President Petr Pavel intends to discuss the statement by House of Deputies Speaker Tomio Okamura regarding Ukraine with government representatives.

He reported this on his page on X, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The statement by the Speaker of the House of Deputies, the third-ranking constitutional figure, is of concern not only to our citizens, but also abroad, to our allies and partners. I will discuss this issue at the next meeting with the head of the coalition government and at a meeting of constitutional figures," Pavel said.

He also stressed that coordination of foreign and security policy is the basis of the country's reliability as a partner.

On January 2, Okamura, in his New Year's address, spoke out against providing weapons to Ukraine.

In his speech, he stated that it is impossible to buy weapons for an "absolutely senseless war" with money that "belongs to Czech pensioners or people with disabilities and families with children." According to Okamura, financial aid for Ukraine also goes to the "Zelenskyy's junta."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Czech President Petr Pavel previously commented on the plan proposed by the American side to end the war in Ukraine, stating that a fair peace plan "should not punish the victim more than the perpetrator."
