Two Polish airports - in Rzeszów and Lublin - temporarily suspended the reception and departure of aircraft amid the massive russian strike on Ukraine on the night of December 27.
As the Polish air transport service stated, the decision was made "due to the need to ensure freedom of operation of military aviation".
That same night, Poland took fighter jets into the sky. This was reported by the Operational Command of the country's Armed Forces on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
"Due to the activity of long-range russian air forces striking the territory of Ukraine, military aviation began to operate in Polish airspace," the department noted, adding that these actions are preventive in nature to protect airspace in areas adjacent to the high-risk zone.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, russian troops launched a massive strike on Ukraine on the night of December 27.
