The Taiwanese government will introduce an additional USD 40 billion defense budget. With this step, Taipei intends to emphasize its resolve in the face of the threat of an attack from China.

According to Reuters, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te made the announcement today, November 26.

The implementation of the USD 39.9 billion package is scheduled from 2026 to 2033. The funds will be used to purchase missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and Taiwan's new T-Dome air defense system.

"There is no room for compromise on national security. National sovereignty and the core values of freedom and democracy are the very foundation of our nation," the Taiwanese president said.

He added that history has repeatedly proved that attempts to compromise in the face of aggression lead only to enslavement.

On November 14, it became known that the United States for the first time since the beginning of President Donald Trump's term approved the sale of weapons to Taiwan.

Earlier this September, The Washington Post wrote, citing sources, that the United States has suspended military aid to Taiwan in order to reach trade agreements with China.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, Reuters published an investigation, which said that the Chinese army is preparing a flotilla of civilian vessels to support a possible landing operation on Taiwan.

We also wrote that China turned to the aggressor country russia and ordered training and equipment for an airborne battalion, which is likely to be involved in the first wave of the invasion.
