On Thursday, November 13, Ukraine's national team suffered a heavy defeat in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match, losing to France 0-4. After the game, head coach of the national team Serhii Rebrov explained that the result was determined by two penalty shootouts.
"I think there are two key points why we lost. The first is a penalty kick against France... as for me, it was a penalty kick. But the referee decided so. Then a penalty in our goal. These two moments were key," Rebrov said.

According to him, in the first half the team acted in a disciplined manner and almost did not allow the opponent to create chances, but after the break they were tired.
"In the second half, they created a lot of chances... Unfortunately, we lost 0-4, but we have time and opportunity to fix it on Sunday," added the blue-and-yellow coach.
In the final round of qualification, Ukraine will host Iceland, in case of victory, our team will be able to qualify for the final part of the World Cup.
Earlier it was reported that the forward of Roma and the national team of Ukraine Artem Dovbyk will miss the match with Iceland due to injury.
