Ireland changes the rules for accepting Ukrainian refugees: the government has reduced the period of free accommodation in public housing from 90 to 30 days. According to RTE, the decision was made to allocate housing resources more rationally, as about 50 new asylum applicants arrive in the country every day, and the reserve of places may be exhausted by the end of the month.
In addition, the government plans to introduce a weekly payment for those Ukrainians who have jobs but continue to live in state-run accommodation centers. According to Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan, the fee will range from EUR 15 to EUR 238 per week, depending on income. The proposal still needs to be considered by the government parties, after which it will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.
There are about 80,000 Ukrainians in Ireland who receive state aid. In total, more than 100,000 Ukrainian citizens have arrived in the country since the beginning of the war.
We would like to remind you that the number of asylum seekers in Germany has sharply decreased - almost twice less than last year.
