Zelenskyy and Fico to meet in Uzhhorod to discuss energy

Energy infrastructure will be a key topic of talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, which will be held on September 5 in Uzhhorod. The press service of the Slovak government reported this to the Slovak news agency TASR.

In addition to Zelenskyy, the Slovak Prime Minister will also meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. His delegation will include Economy Minister Denisa Saková and Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár.

"The Slovak Prime Minister and the Ukrainian Pre#sident will report on the conclusions of the meeting at a joint press conference," Bratislava said.

This will be the first personal meeting between Zelenskyy and Fico since his return to office in 2023.

As a reminder, Slovakia and Hungary still receive russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, which has recently been repeatedly attacked in Ukraine. The governments of both countries have complained to the European Commission about this. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán even wrote a letter to Donald Trump, who reportedly reacted sharply to Ukraine's actions.

And US President Donald Trump has called on European leaders to stop buying russian oil, stressing that these funds allow the kremlin to finance the war against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Fico said he wanted to convey "several messages" to Zelenskyy after his meeting with putin.
