Ukrzaliznytsia delivers oil products from Germany in its own wagons for the first time

The Ukrzaliznytsia joint stock company has delivered oil products from Germany in its own wagons for the first time in history.

The company has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Ukrzaliznytsia continues to strengthen its presence in the European logistics market.

"For the first time in history, the company organized the transportation of oil products from Germany to Ukraine in its own wagons. For this, we used specialized ZACNS type tanks designed for the European standard gauge of 1435 mm," the message states.

The message states that the entire route from Hamburg to the Ukrainian border was provided by UZ Cargo Poland Sp. z o.o. - a subsidiary of Ukrzaliznytsia, which acts as the official transportation operator in the EU.

Ukrzaliznytsia managed to convince key players in the fuel market to use rail services and our end-to-end logistics with the participation of its subsidiary UZ Cargo Poland.

Regular rail transportation is already being carried out from Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Italy, and now from Germany.

Thus, thanks to these services, import volumes were increased by 5.4% in half a year – to 5.3 million tons.

However, the overall dynamics of freight transportation remains negative: in the first half of 2025, 79.6 million tons of cargo were transported – this is 11.8% less than last year.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrzaliznytsia successfully held a number of auctions for renting space at the Central and Southern stations of the Kyiv-Passenger station.
