Banks reduce cash currency imports by 10% in June to USD 702 million equivalent

Banks reduced cash currency imports by 10% in June to USD 701.7 million equivalent.

This is evidenced by data of the National Bank of Ukraine, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Thus, during the reporting period, banks imported USD 377,000 in cash, which is 17% less than in May, while the import of cash euros increased by 2% to USD 322,690 in equivalent compared to the previous month.

In addition, gold was imported for USD 1,079,000 in equivalent.

In total, cash currency was imported for USD 701.679 million in equivalent in April.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the National Bank is considering changing the base currency for currency policy orientation from the US dollar to the euro.

Such a scenario is still hypothetical, but is determined by a number of geopolitical and economic factors.
