If the US decides to impose 30% tariffs against the European Union, the bloc will respond with a package of tariffs on American exports totaling almost USD 110 billion.
It was reported by Bloomberg, citing its own sources.
The agency's interlocutors said that the European Union has prepared measures in response to a possible decision by US President Donald Trump to impose 30% tariffs on European goods.
In the first wave of retaliatory measures, the bloc intends to combine two lists of tariffs. The first, which was approved earlier, includes duties on EUR 21 billion, the second is additionally proposed, for another EUR 72 billion.
This means that if Trump decides to impose tariffs against the European Union, the bloc will impose similar duties on American exports worth EUR 93 billion (almost USD 110 billion). We are talking about Boeing aircraft, cars and alcohol.
Brussels is ready to introduce tariffs on goods from the US as early as August this year, but only if an agreement with Washington cannot be reached.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 14, European Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič said that Trump's introduction of 30% tariffs against the EU would lead to the destruction of transatlantic trade.
