President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has informed Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova of his intention to dismiss her and suggested that she remain in the team.
Suspilne reported this with reference to a source in the President's Office.
Thus, the interlocutor of the publication stated that the position for Markarova will be determined later, in the meantime, preliminary consultations have already been held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha.
It is also claimed that the decision on who will take the post of ambassador to the US has not yet been made.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Bloomberg, citing a source, stated that in a telephone conversation on July 4, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump discussed the replacement of the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States.
According to the publication, the list of potential candidates for the position includes Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
