3 out of 9 nuclear power units of NPPs in controlled territory of Ukraine stopped for scheduled maintenance

As of April 30, three out of nine nuclear power units of NPPs located in controlled territory were stopped for scheduled and preventive maintenance.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported this with reference to Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.

"At the three operating nuclear power plants (NPPs) of Ukraine – Khmelnytskyi, Rivne and South Ukraine – three out of nine reactors remain stopped for maintenance and fuel reloading," the agency noted.

Currently, Energoatom operates nine power units of the South Ukraine, Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs with a total capacity of 7,880 MW. All of them are located in the territory controlled by Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, four kilometers from the South Ukraine NPP, observers from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recorded the flight of eight drones on the night of April 9.

All three nuclear power plants in the territory controlled by Ukraine – Khmelnytskyi, Rivne and South Ukraine – produce electricity, although some units are in a state of planned shutdown, and others have to reduce capacity from time to time.
