After 3 years of separation: mother and son from Azovstal reunited in prisoner exchange

Marharyta and Ruslan Vynohrad, a mother and son who were separated for three years, have returned from russian captivity. During all this time, they have never seen each other or had any contact.

This is reported by Suspilne.

Marharyta and Ruslan were captured in Mariupol back in 2022, while leaving the Azovstal plant. Since then, neither of them has known what happened to the other.

Ruslan is now 22 years old. In captivity, he wrote letters to his mother, believing that she was already free. Their first meeting after a long separation took place on April 19 - just on the bus that delivered the liberated Ukrainians. Now both are waiting to meet their families.

"I often dreamed of being released and hugging my children and relatives. And then waking up at six in the morning - and you realize that it was just a dream. And today I saw my son and said: 'If this is a dream - don't wake me up,” Marharyta shared.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, 277 soldiers returned to Ukraine during the prisoner exchange on April 19.
