In the north of the city of Kupyansk, Kharkiv Region, russian troops are trying to transfer their infantry units and are not using armored vehicles, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are controlling the approaches to the city. This was stated on TV by the spokesman for the Kharkiv Operational and Strategic Troops Group (OSTG), Pavlo Shamshyn.
"The russians continue to shell Kupyansk, but there is no progress in advancing to the city and around the city. We are currently controlling the approaches to Kupyansk from the northern side. I can say that the russians are trying to transfer infantry units north of Kupyansk, they are not using armored vehicles there," Shamshyn reported.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces are detecting and destroying infantry units and sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the occupiers on the approaches to the city, but the active use of enemy drones is being recorded.
"It should also be said that the russians are now extremely actively using drones. We have more daylight hours now, and we are already noticing that if, for example, in February the russians usually used up to 500 drones in our direction, now this number has increased by one and a half times. These are both kamikaze drones and drones that work with discharges. That is, if we take a certain number of attacks, then two-thirds are using drones," he added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, more than 80% of Kupyansk, which is located two kilometers from the front line, has been damaged or destroyed as a result of russian shelling.
As of today, more than 780 people are still in settlements across the Oskil River in the Kupyansk area, who need to be evacuated.
