Biden in his farewell speech says that he was able to visit center of Kyiv, unlike putin

Acting US President Joseph Biden said that russian dictator vladimir putin wanted to capture Kyiv in three days, but in the end it was the American leader, who visited the center of the Ukrainian capital.

Biden said this in his farewell speech at the US Department of State, his words are quoted by RBC-Ukraine.

"When putin attacked Ukraine, he thought he would capture Kyiv in a few days. But since the war began, I have been standing in the center of Kyiv, not him," Biden noted.

According to him, the United States helped Ukraine stop putin and prevent the russian dictator from subjugating the country.

"He did not succeed in capturing significant territory. Today, Ukraine is still free," Biden added.

He also noted that the US has united 50 countries to support Ukraine, and has also provided an "extraordinary" amount of weapons and imposed unprecedented sanctions on russia.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 7, the Associated Press agency wrote, citing sources, that the Biden administration is preparing to transfer a large-scale package of military aid to Ukraine, which will be the last before the current president leaves office.

As a reminder, Biden had his last telephone conversation with President Zelenskyy the day before. The Ukrainian leader thanked the current US president for his assistance to Ukraine, and also hinted at providing additional air defense systems.
