Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, after meeting with the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, offered the leader of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin, assistance in finding ways to end the war in Ukraine politically and diplomatically.
This is stated in the kremlin's message on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In particular, it is reported that at the initiative of the Hungarian side, a telephone conversation between putin and Orbán took place.
"A detailed exchange of views on the Ukrainian issue was held. Viktor Orbán expressed interest in facilitating a joint search for ways to end the crisis politically and diplomatically, including taking into account his contacts with a number of Western leaders," the message says.
It is noted that, for his part, putin outlined a principled assessment of the current development of the situation around Ukraine and "the destructive line of the Kyiv regime, which, as before, excludes the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict."
It is also noted that putin and Orbán considered a number of topical issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, attention, in particular, was paid to the further promotion of mutually beneficial projects in the energy sector. The tense situation in the Middle East region in the context of the latest events in Syria was also discussed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy called his meeting on December 7 with French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump productive and stated that they all want to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible and fairly.
On December 10, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced on Twitter his meeting in Florida with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, businessman Elon Musk, and Trump's future national security adviser Mike Waltz, noting "USA today. The future has begun!".
