Transnistria wants to introduce economic emergency due to risk of stopping gas transit from russia through Ukraine

The head of the unrecognized Transnistria (PMR) Vadim Krasnoselsky signed a decree on the introduction of an economic emergency. This is due to the risk of stopping the transit of russian gas through Ukraine.

The corresponding decree was published on the website of the head of the unrecognized republic.

The document states that the introduction of an economic emergency is due to a reduction in natural gas supplies. The special legal regime is being introduced for 30 days.

The economic emergency is supposedly designed to prevent a critical drop in production, uncontrolled development of stagflation processes and violations in the monetary and credit and currency and financial spheres.

To this end, it is proposed to establish a special procedure for purchasing gas, establish a ban on the export of energy resources, introduce rationalization of gas consumption, create a reserve of energy resources, etc.

The document was submitted to the "Supreme Council" of the unrecognized republic, its consideration is scheduled for December 11.

If it is approved by the "Supreme Council", the state of emergency will come into force 6 hours after its publication.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in October, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that after 2024, Kyiv will not renew the agreement with the russian federation on the transit of natural gas.

As we will recall, the day before, Reuters wrote, citing sources, that the russian Gazprom was preparing to stop gas transit through the territory of Ukraine in 2025.
