European Commission agrees to allocate EUR 4.1 billion to Ukraine within Ukraine Facility

The European Commission has agreed to allocate EUR 4.1 billion to Ukraine within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The EC gave a positive assessment to the reforms and noted that the Government has fulfilled the necessary indicators for receiving this tranche. We are counting on the quick approval of the decision by the Council of the EU. After that, the total amount of support within the Ukraine Facility for this year will amount to EUR 16.1 billion," he noted.

This decision must be adopted by the EU Council.

Ukraine is expected to receive these funds by the end of 2024.

Shmyhal thanked the EU for its unwavering support for Ukraine and emphasized that even despite the full-scale war with russia, Ukraine continues to reform and transform itself for rapprochement with Europe and full membership in the EU.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in August Ukraine received EUR 4.2 billion from the European Union within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program.

Since the beginning of the year, the EU has provided Ukraine with over EUR 12 billion in budget support.

Budgetary support from the EU is expected to reach EUR 16 billion in 2024.
