President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has congratulated the President of Moldova Maia Sandu on her victory in the presidential election in Moldova on November 3 and invited her to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"I had a telephone conversation with Mrs. President of Moldova Maia Sandu. I congratulated her on the victory in the presidential election and, on behalf of the Ukrainian people, expressed support for the European choice of the people of Moldova," he said.
Zelenskyy said that they confirmed their commitment to cooperation on the way to the common goal of membership in the European Union and coordinated further steps.
He invited Sandu to Ukraine.
The current president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, beat her opponent Alexandr Stoianoglo by more than 10% in the second round of the presidential election on November 3.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in November of last year, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, came to Kyiv to meet with Zelenskyy and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, to discuss the accession of Moldova and Ukraine to the EU and the strengthening of regional security.
