Almost in 2 months, International Criminal Court reacts to putin's trip to Mongolia and condemns country for not arresting dictator

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has found that Mongolia violated its obligations when it did not arrest russian dictator vladimir putin during his visit to Ulaanbaatar.

The press service of the International Criminal Court has reported this.

They concluded that Mongolia, which has ratified the Rome Statute, by refusing to arrest putin, prevented the ICC from fulfilling its functions and powers, and the immunity of the head of state does not allow ignoring an arrest warrant.

As a punishment, the ICC may deprive Mongolia of procedural opportunities up to the right to propose candidates for new judges of the ICC.

We will remind you that the Court now has a representative of Mongolia, whose term of office will be nine years.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, putin's visit to Mongolia was the first visit of the russian leader to a member state of the International Criminal Court after an arrest warrant was imposed on him in March 2023 due to the abduction of children from the occupied territories of Ukraine.

According to the Rome Statute, Mongolia must execute a warrant and arrest putin if he appears on its territory.

Ukraine called on Mongolia to hand over the leader of the aggressor country russia, vladimir putin, to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Ukraine believes that one of the goals of putin's visit to Mongolia is to discredit the International Criminal Court, setting a precedent and giving russian propaganda an opportunity to spread the narrative about the "uselessness of the orders of Western institutions."
