Over the past year, Ukrainians bought real estate in Poland with a total area of about 380,000 square meters or almost 7,700 apartments against the background of the fact that the growth of housing prices in Poland is currently the highest in Europe.
Financial expert Karol Słobodzian told about this in an interview with Onet, and the Money.pl portal also reports.
So, he noted that despite the fact that Poland has the most expensive mortgage in Europe, there is still no shortage of people, who want to buy a new home.
"In addition to investors from Poland, foreign investment funds increasingly want to invest in our apartments. It should also be remembered that the long war on our eastern border also leads to the fact that Ukrainian citizens decide to stay in Poland for a longer period of time and buy an apartment. In 2023 alone, they bought almost 380,000 square meters, which significantly affects the demand for housing in Poland," he explains.
According to Money.pl, the demand for buying apartments in Poland among foreigners was stimulated by the 2% secured loan program. From this group, citizens of Ukraine bought the largest number of apartments last year.
In 2023, foreigners bought 14,346 apartments in Poland, of which more than 7,700 real estate objects with a total area of almost 390,000 square meters were bought by Ukrainians.
At the same time, the cost of a square meter in the Polish capital, Warsaw, is almost USD 4,000. And, according to LUN, in Kyiv, it does not exceed USD 1,500.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz previously stated that Polish society is shocked by young Ukrainians, who drive expensive cars and spend weekends in five-star hotels, because it is unfair to Poles.
