Russian Lukoil resumes supply of oil through Ukraine to Hungary

Russian Lukoil has resumed the supply of oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline to Hungary according to amended contracts, currently receiving raw materials at the border of Belarus and Ukraine.

The russian publication Kommersant writes about this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Yes, they have recovered. We have changed the supply contract, which means that we now take oil on the border of Belarus and Ukraine," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in September the transit volume of russian oil through the Ukrainian part of the Druzhba oil pipeline increased by 37% to 1.06 million tons compared to August.

In 9 months of 2024, Ukraine transported about 8.05 million tons of russian oil to Europe.

In particular, 3.39 million tons of oil were transported to Hungary (42% of the total transit), 2.912 million tons (36%) to Slovakia, 1.75 million tons (22%) to the Czech Republic.

Lukoil planned to resume oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia and Hungary in October after Hungary's MOL said it had struck deals to transport oil through Belarus and Ukraine via the pipeline.

On July 18, Lukoil stopped supplying oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline due to the sanctions that Ukraine had imposed against the company before that.
