The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), together with the National Police, neutralized a group of youths in Odesa who, on the order of the FSB, committed a series of arson attacks on Defense Forces’ vehicles.
The SSU press service has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
It is noted that in two weeks, attackers tried to destroy more than 15 official SUVs.
"As a result of the special operation, all the members of the enemy cell were detained almost simultaneously in different parts of the city. They turned out to be six Odessans aged 18 to 24, who worked as couriers for a popular food delivery service," the report says.
They came to the attention of the FSB as active users of Telegram channels in search of easy money, where they left their "resumes".
In one of these chats, a representative of the russian special service answered the young men and offered money in exchange for destroying the vehicles of Ukrainian soldiers.
The men "locked in" to one supervisor from the FSB, and during the commission of the crime they acted mostly in pairs.
Working under the "cover" of courier delivery, the persons involved on their own scooters went around the city, where they established the addresses of the parking lots of Defense Forces’ vehicles.
"Then they sent photos of potential targets to their Russian curator for 'approval'. After a 'command' from the FSB, young men arrived at night at the parking lots of military cars, doused them with a flammable mixture and set them on fire. Then those involved filmed the burning for 'reporting' to the aggressor," the message said.
Then, the occupiers planned to use these videos to conduct information and psychological special operations against Ukraine.
The SSU officers arrested all the enemy accomplices in hot pursuit.
Self-made incendiary mixtures and mobile phones with evidence of crimes were seized from them.
Currently, all six persons involved have been served the notices of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 114-1 (obstructing the legal activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations) of the Criminal Code.
The perpetrators are in custody, they face up to 8 years in prison.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a russian military intelligence agent in the Kharkiv Region who was spying on the military echelons of the Defense Forces.
