The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have opened criminal proceedings on the fact of the death of a serviceman who tried to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.
The SBI has informed about this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to operational data, on July 14, 2024, four servicemen escaped from the training unit and tried to cross to the Republic of Moldova on foot on July 14, 2024.
In order to get to the border, the fugitives called a taxi.
During the attempt to cross the border, the border guards noticed them and detained them.
One of the fugitives attacked a border guard while trying to escape.
In response, he used a service weapon and shot the attacker.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing, all the circumstances of the event are being established.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the former co-owner of PrivatBank, Hennadii Boholiubov, who recently went abroad, said that he does not know whether he will return to Ukraine after the State Bureau of Investigation served him in absentia with the suspicion of illegal border crossing on June 24.
Employees of the SBI served a notice of suspicion to the former head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, who involved military personnel from district military commissariats in construction work in his own house.
