Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company will produce Pfizer’s drug to treat COVID-19

Private Joint Stock Company Pharmaceutical Firm Darnitsa (Kyiv) has won the competition and signed an agreement for a license to develop and produce the Pfizer’s drug to treat COVID-19.

Executive Chairman of Darnitsa Group Dmytro Shymkiv wrote about this on his Facebook page, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

“On March 18, 2022, Darnitsa officially won the competition and signed an agreement with MPP (The Medicines Patent Pool - an organization authorized by the UN) to obtain a license for the development and production of a generic version of Pfizer's oral anti-covid drug nirmatrelvir in combination with a low dose of ritonavir (nirmatrelvir; ritonavir),” he said.

According to him, the war against the aggressor is going on in our country, but the global pandemic has not disappeared either.

Shymkiv noted that under the conditions of war, as well as pandemic in the country, powerful and innovative pharmaceuticals are the most important component of the national security of the state.

As of today, Darnitsa is the first and only company in Ukraine that has the right to develop and manufacture a generic version of the drug for the treatment of COVID-19 for Ukrainian patients and healthcare workers, as well as for the entire region,” he added.

According to the earlier reports of the Ukrainian News Agency, the warehouse of the major drug manufacturer Farmak near Makariv (Kyiv region) has been completely burned down.

The Darnitsa company is looking for pharmacists who could work in pharmacies to replace those who have left Kyiv.

Luada, Alukon, Dansk, Rostim, Balu Service, Fam Capital, Danilan and Nikom Service each own 9.91% of the shares of Darnitsa, and Farmmedinvest company owns 7.3%.
