NATO Calling On Russia To Stop Cyber Attacks On Ukraine

Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, calls on the Russian Federation to cease any actions aimed at cyber attacks on Ukraine.

Mr. Stoltenberg said this at a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the NATO head, the Alliance is interested in cooperation with Ukraine in cyber security.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) wants to cooperate with Ukraine in the field of cyber security.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced this at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko following a meeting of the Ukraine - NATO Commission in Kyiv on Monday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We have begun to build a more powerful system of cyber security to defend our networks to help countries of the Alliance reinforce their cyber security systems. We are willing to cooperate with such countries as Ukraine in this sphere," he said.

He says the cooperation will include exchange of experience, joint training, and development of new technologies.

"We need all this to efficiently respond to cyber threats that transform constantly. The systems of protection and defense we have today in this sphere may not work tomorrow. They must be upgraded," he said.

He says cooperation with Ukraine in cyber security is becoming increasingly important.

The NATO Secretary General says NATO is providing new equipment to the key government institutions of Ukraine that will help investigate cyber attacks, as response to them is extremely important.

He says NATO learns from Ukraine as well.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Security Service of Ukraine has found out that Russian special services were involved in Petya.A virus attack on a number of Ukrainian banks and companies.

NATO supports Ukraine's efforts in implementation of security and defense reforms as well as it welcomes certain progress in them.

President Petro Poroshenko consider that NATO's role is increasing due to the Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

Legislative enshrining of Ukraine's NATO membership priority took effect on July 9.

NATO is intending to provide Ukraine with equipment for satellite communications.
