PGO Waiting For Answer From Authorities Of Spain On Extradition Of MP Onyschenko's Mother To Ukraine
The authorities of Spain have not sent any answer to the Ukrainian authorities following an inquiry sent by the Prosecutor General's Office to begin the procedure for extradition of Inesa Kadyrova, the mother of the Member of Parliament Oleksandr Onyschenko (People's Will parliamentary group), to Ukraine on suspicion of involvement in the so-called "gas scheme."
Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin told this to Ukrainian News Agency in an interview.
"This process is not as quick as we all would like it to be," he said.
According to him, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine once received consent from the authorities of Spain on extradition of a woman suspected of fraud ten years after the Prosecutor General's Office had sent an inquiry.
He notes that a question of extradition can hardly be expected to be resolved in a day or a month.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in April 2017, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine sent to the competent Spanish authorities the documents necessary to begin the procedure for extradition of Inesa Kadyrova to Ukraine.
Spanish law enforcement officials detained Kadyrova in March 2017. A court in Spain released her later.
