USD 1.5 Billion Of Yanukovych And His Entourage Confiscated To State Budget Will Be Used To Enhance Defense Capability Of State
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko says USD 1.5 billion of former president Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage which has been confiscated by a Ukrainian court will be used to enhance defense capability of the State.
He announced this during inspection of a communication center of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I have applied to the Government and the Parliament in order that the Parliament adopt amendments to the state budget. The first priority of the use of the funds will be enhancing the fighting capacity of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Border Service, and the National Police," he said.
He said the funds should be used for construction of a plant on the production of ammunition, as well as purchase of means of modern radio-electronic warfare, counterbattery radars, dronest, construction of dormitories for contractors and military hotels for officers on the territory of every brigade to provide decent service conditions for the defenders.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 28, 2017, a court in Ukraine ordered to confiscate USD 15 billion on accounts of former president Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage.
