Kyiv To Launch 7 River Trams Ahead Of 2017 Eurovision International Song Contest
The Kyiv municipal administration intends to connect the Kyiv river port station and the part of the city located on the left bank of River Dnipro with by launching a river-tram route on which will seven trams will operate ahead of the 2017 Eurovision international song contest.
The Kyiv municipal administration announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"And I hope that the river tram will be in operation in Kyiv not only during the 2017 Eurovision international song contest. We plan for it to operate not only within the capital, but also to connect Kyiv with other cities, particularly Kaniv. we will launch seven river trams ahead of the song contest, and we will add three more if there is the load is large," the Kyiv municipal administration, citing Kyiv's Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
The river trams will begin operation in early May.
The construction of an overpass and a tunnel on Poshtova Square has been completed, engineering networks have been laid, the top layers of the road surface have been laid, road signs have been installed, and a barrier fence has been erected.
Modern street lighting has also been installed on the Dnipro embankment.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Kyiv municipal administration intends to open the pedestrian part of Poshtova Square on May 1 following its reconstruction.
