SACPO: Nasirov Has Not Surrendered His British Passport To Investigators
The suspended head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, has not surrendered his British passport to investigators.
Roman Simkiv, a prosecutor with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO), announced this to reporters, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to Simkiv, investigators seized two passports and a diplomatic passport during a search of Nasirov's home.
"Regarding his British passport, it has currently not been surrendered," the prosecutor said.
Simkiv said that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office was also verifying reports that Nasirov has Hungarian citizenship and that it has sent the relevant request to Hungary.
A request has also been sent to Britain to confirm the suspect's citizenship.
Simkiv insisted that Nasirov has a British passport. Otherwise, according to him, the British Embassy would have denied that he has a British passport.
The prosecutor also said that investigators intend to interrogate Nasirov several more times.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Nasirov was released from custody on a bail of UAH 100 million on March 16.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office recently said that Nasirov has Hungarian and British citizenship.
Nasirov denies this.
