Groysman Promises Changes In Pension System In 2017

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman promises changes in the pension system in the country in 2017.

Prime Minister Groysman made a statement to this effect at the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I think in 2017 we have all grounds to say that the pension system will be changed and it will be fair. Pensioners will see higher pensions, but this system requires radical changes and we will be ready to present it to Ukrainians," he said.

He said the increase in the minimal wage to UAH 3,200 from 1 January 2017 was an extremely important step.

"Millions of Ukrainians got higher wages. These are practical things. These were not empty promises," he said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk said on February 6 that the updated memorandum on cooperation with the International Monetary Fund did not contain an obligation to increase the retirement age.
