Poroshenko: Missiles Successfully Launched During Air Force Firing Training In South, Above Black Sea

President Petro Poroshenko says that the Air Force of the Armed Forces has successfully launched missiles during the aircraft firing training in the south and above the Black Sea.

He said this during a ceremony of handing the colour of operational battalion of military unit 3066 of the Northern Kyiv territorial directorate of the National Guard in Kyiv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

“Despite the RF threat we are holding the planned drills today and tomorrow, in particular testing ground-to-air guided missiles… Successful launches have been already reported… The launches are made in Ukraine’s air space above the open sea in full compliance with the international law,” he said.

Crew teams of the Air Force combat cargo aircraft, air defence artillery missile units, army signal corps and unmanned aviation corps are involved in the drills.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has announced Ukraine's plan to conduct on December 1 and 2 missile-firing exercises above the Black Sea in spite of Russia's threats of a missile strike.

The Ministry of Defence admits the possibility of a missile strike by Russia if Ukraine conducts missile-firing exercises above the Black Sea December 1-2.

The media have reported Russia to have made reprehensions to Ukraine thereupon and promised to deal a missile blow on the Ukrainian launching systems.
