May inflation 0.9%
In May 2026, consumer prices rose by 0.9%.
It was reported by the State Statistics Service, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
Specifically, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.2% in May, while prices for clothing and footwear fell by 1.8%, prices for housing and utility services rose by 0.3%, healthcare-related services rose by 0.4%, and education rose by 0.1%.
Compared to May 2025, consumer prices rose by 8.2% in May 2026.
In January–May 2026, inflation stood at 5.8%.
In May 2026, the core consumer price index stood at 0.7%.
Compared to May 2025, core inflation in May 2026 was 7.9%.
Core inflation is a sub-index of the consumer price index.
The core CPI (core inflation) is the component of inflation that reflects the dynamics of freely set prices, excluding items whose prices are influenced by administrative and seasonal factors.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, inflation stood at 1.4% in April, with core inflation at 0.9%.
In 2025, inflation was recorded at 8.0%, in 2024—12.0%, in 2023—5.1%, in 2022—26.6%, and in 2021—10.0%.
In 2025, core inflation stood at 8.0%.
The 2026 state budget projects a 9.9% increase in consumer prices (December to December of the previous year).
