Explosion at CHPP in Bucharest causes large-scale fire: transformers and fuel oil burned
In the capital of Romania, Bucharest, late on the evening of April 20, a powerful explosion occurred at the CET Vest CHPP, after which a large fire broke out.
This is reported by HotNews.
According to rescuers, the fire started in two electrical transformers and later spread to a third. The situation was complicated by the burning fuel oil - there were about 30 tons of fuel at the facility.
Due to the incident, temporary power outages were recorded in the city.
Head of the Emergency Services Raed Arafat reported that dozens of special vehicles were involved in extinguishing the fire. At the same time, rescuers had to work without special robotic systems.
"Unfortunately, the fire robots are undergoing maintenance... Firefighters will now work without robots, but there is no risk of explosion for them, the problem is the burning of fuel oil, which needs to be brought under control," he explained.
By one o'clock in the morning, firefighters managed to localize the fire and begin cooling the area.
According to preliminary data, there were no casualties. The public alert system was not activated, since the facility is located far from residential areas, and the level of smoke did not pose a critical threat.
The power supply at the CHPP itself was temporarily disconnected for safety reasons. The causes of the explosion will be established after the final elimination of the fire.
Recall, "good drones" staged a fire show at the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery in the Samara Oblast of the russian federation.
