Magyar promises to meet with Zelenskyy and establish good neighborly relations with Ukraine
The future government of Hungary plans to radically change its foreign policy course and establish friendly relations with Kyiv. The leader of the Tisza party, Péter Magyar, called the restoration of good neighborliness one of the priorities of his team. He stated this at a press conference.
The politician emphasized that direct dialogue between the leaders of the states is critical for restarting cooperation, which has been in crisis for years.
"We will definitely meet with President Zelenskyy. Establishing friendly relations with Ukraine is one of our top priorities," emphasized Péter Magyar.
He also added that the new Hungarian government seeks to be consistent in its actions and will abandon the policy of constant changes of position, which was inherent in its predecessor.
"We will try to be consistent and honest in our communication and will not change our position every six months," the future head of the Hungarian government assured.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the leader of the Hungarian Tisza party, Péter Magyar, who won the parliamentary elections in Hungary, opposed the application of an accelerated procedure for Ukraine to join the European Union.
On April 12, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán admitted the defeat of his Fidesz party and congratulated Péter Magyar's Tisza on winning the parliamentary elections.
On April 13, Magyar called on the Hungarian president to resign and announced a course to strengthen NATO.
