Number of private air defense groups will be significantly increased in Kharkiv Region by yearend - Regional M
The Kharkiv Region plans to expand the network of private mobile air defense groups several times. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
According to him, the experimental project has already demonstrated its effectiveness, protecting strategic objects in the region from strike drones.
Currently, the system is operating in test mode, but it has already shot down targets that were heading towards critical infrastructure objects, in particular, CHPP-5.
"The project is operating in experimental mode in the Kharkiv Region, but there are already results, there are the first shooting downs of both Shaheds and other means of destruction," Syniehubov said.
The head of the region emphasized that the development of this direction is a priority for strengthening the security of the energy system.
"We will continue to develop such a system, and it will increase many times by the end of this year," he emphasized, adding that for security reasons, the details of the work of these units are not disclosed.
The introduction of private air defense groups takes place against the backdrop of a general increase in the efficiency of Ukrainian air defense, which, according to the Ministry of Defense, reached 89.9% in March. Further scaling up of the project in the Kharkiv Region should become an additional echelon of protection for the CHPPs and other energy nodes of the region.
