US FBI says it had detected cyberattacks by russian special services on users of Signal and other messengers
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has detected cyberattacks linked to russian special services that targeted users of commercial messaging apps, including Signal.
This was announced in a statement by the bureau on the social network X.
The campaign was aimed at individuals with significant intelligence value, including current and former US government officials, military personnel, politicians and journalists.
"At the global level, these efforts led to unauthorized access to thousands of individual accounts. Once accessed, attackers can view messages and contact lists, send messages on behalf of the victim, and also carry out additional phishing attacks from trusted accounts," FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post published on the social network X.
