Zelenskyy warns of risk of russia enriching itself by USD 10 billion due to easing of US sanctions
The United States' decision to temporarily lift restrictions against Moscow could provide the aggressor with USD 10 billion in resources for further waging war. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a joint briefing with Emmanuel Macron.
The Kremlin is directing these funds from the sale of energy resources to the production of weapons and drones, which poses a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to European and American partners.
"I believe that the lifting of sanctions will lead to the strengthening of russia's position. It spends money from the sale of energy resources on weapons. And all this then flies against us," the head of state emphasized.
According to the President, intelligence data confirms that drones produced with these funds are subsequently used against the international community.
"Lifting sanctions so that more drones will fly at you later is not the right decision, in my opinion," Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the US has temporarily eased sanctions on russian oil: restrictions on its purchase and transportation by sea have been lifted for 30 days.
US President Donald Trump said that some of the sanctions related to russia's oil sector may be temporarily lifted to stabilize energy prices. At the same time, he did not rule out that some restrictions may not be restored at all.
