Warsaw is studying the possibility of obtaining its own nuclear weapons to strengthen deterrence in Europe amid doubts about US defense guarantees. This is reported by Bloomberg.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced Poland's desire for maximum autonomy in nuclear safety issues in the future. This position reflects a rare agreement between the government and President Karol Nawrocki, who also supports the country's participation in nuclear projects.

"Poland takes nuclear safety very seriously. As our autonomous capabilities grow, we will strive to prepare Poland to act as independently as possible in this matter," Donald Tusk said.

In addition to developing his own strategy, on March 2, the Polish Prime Minister confirmed the start of negotiations with France on expanding the nuclear umbrella. This comes after Emmanuel Macron's proposal to deploy nuclear-capable fighter jets on the territory of the allies. Tusk also noted that he has been in contact with Sweden and Denmark on this issue, and the next round of discussions will take place at the summit in Paris on March 10.

Meanwhile, russia is modernizing its nuclear bases near Europe.
